Slot Rankings - How Wide Receivers Score More Touchdowns in the Slot

Slot machines function exactly the same way every game, so you won't be able to discover any secrets to beat them. There are a few tips you can follow to increase your chances of winning.

Find out the RTP of a particular game first. This statistic tells you how much players can expect to win on average over the long run.

Slot Efficiency

The aim of slot efficiency is to maximize the number of slot changes that can be made without breaking certain constraints. These constraints include, for example the minimum operational delay (usually expressed as scheduling delays) fairness, equity, access, competition, environmental objectives and more. The process of allocation of multi-line slots is a complex one, and optimizing it to achieve the desired performance metrics requires careful analysis of all factors at play.

The process starts by identifying the different types of requests that need to be prioritized based on precedents from the past. Once the type is determined and the slot allocation model is developed, it is then used to minimize the delay criteria. A number of research gaps have been found in relation to the models for optimizing slot scheduling, particularly when balancing fairness and efficiency.

ABC (assigned based on velocity) is a common method for prioritizing slot allocation. This strategy collects item information and then determines an appropriate grouping based on the velocity. Items with the fastest speed are allocated the top slots for real Money in the warehouse, whereas those with lower speeds are assigned to the behind.

The distance factor is another crucial element in the slot's efficiency. It measures the amount of space needed to facilitate the pick-to-ship process. The factor considers the velocity group, the placement of racking and the handling characteristics of the products.

To increase slot efficiency, it is also important to think about the costs associated with any slot change. A quick review of a typical slot change can help managers understand the costs associated with the move, and also the effects it may affect other aspects of slot efficiency, including velocity.

After a few months of validating the data, and back-dating the recommendations, the casino began using the solution more frequently. The gaming operations team estimates that they will save 10-12 hours a month with their traditional analysis and this doesn't include time spent reviewing customer-rated data or developing and analyzing new strategies that are actionable.

The team was able, with the help of the new recommendations offered by SRE to make a number of game changes that resulted in more revenue for players. Dancing Drums Explosion, and Twinstar Wave XL from Scientific Games saw significant gains in the premium lease rankings and WAP rankings. The casino also managed to shift their budget away from marketing and other expenses to improve floor performance.

Perimeter Efficiency

We all know that wide receivers are more likely to score more touchdowns on areas that are not targeted by slot targets, as they're often targeted farther downfield and often face one-on-one coverage. However, what may surprise people is the different between the top five slot receivers and the rest of them in terms of scoring on these perimeter targets.

Mike Evans, Amari cooper, Tyler Lockett, and Michael Gallup were the top five scorers on perimeter routes. They were among the 66 wide receivers who received at least 40 targets in each of the two previous seasons. The bottom half of the list was filled with more possession-based receivers, including Chris Godwin and Diontae Johnson. The Bucs will likely move the latter two into the slot more often during this season, which could increase their targets. However, they'll need to improve their scoring from the perimeter to keep their high standards.

Speedy wideouts are the biggest benefit of moving into the slot, because they generally have an easier time getting open downfield when their route isn't covered by a cornerback or linebacker. Corey Coleman is the only wide receiver who isn't a speedy wideout but would benefit from more slot work. He's a solid target for short and intermediate routes.

The bottom of the list includes more possession-based receivers who are better on intermediate and short routes than deep ones such as Jerry Jeudy and KJ Hamler. Jeudy is a great sleeper pick this year as he'll be the primary slot receiver for the Rams while Courtland Sutton and Amari Cooper are largely expected to play on more downfield targets. Hamler is expected to thrive on more short-to-middle and intermediate routes, since this is where he was at his best when playing for the Bills in 2021. Hamler could be a great replacement for the departing wideout Jordan Matthews.

Percentage of Snaps in the Slot

The percentage of snaps that a receiver makes in the slot is a good indicator of their ability to play deep routes. It is not always a true reflection of a receiver's skills because certain receivers are better in the slot and can't play more deep.

Alshon Jeffrey, as an example leads the league in the number of targets he receives per game (4.8), but is only ranked 6th when it comes to the position that scores (58.5). This is because most of his targets come from the outside, and it's hard to get a first down in a wide-open deep line in that situation.

On the other hand, certain receivers excel at playing inside, but struggle on the outside. For instance the Panthers handed Robby Anderson 978 snaps this season, and he completed a whopping 74% of his slot routes compared to just 26% on boundary routes. This is a huge distinction and demonstrates how much more productive Anderson is when he is aligned to the slot.

Chris Godwin, a Buccaneers player, is inside most of his passing downs. He has one of the top five slot receiving scores (58.5). However, he also played 51% of his perimeter routes in the last season and is a stud in one-on-one coverage.

Speed receivers are usually more effective when lined up inside, as they can get targeted way down the field, and often find themselves with one-on-one coverage. You'll find names like Mike Evans, Amari Cooper, and slots for real money Julio Jones in our top five.

McDuffie, Moore and other slot cornerbacks are also in this group. Both have been able create pressures during the pass game with McDuffie leading the NFL with seven forced fumbles and Moore being the most effective tackle stop rate on this list (-3.5). Spagnuolo increased McDuffie's capabilities by using him in the slot for nickel and dime packs and then moving him to the outside while playing base defense. Moore's ability to stop big run plays is an enormous advantage when playing the slot.

Percentage of Snaps Outside

While top NFL receivers like Golden Tate, Larry Fitzgerald and Baldwin excel on the perimeter but their slot counterparts are also just as good. As a whole wide receivers with high slot receiving grades score touchdowns roughly at the same amount as those who are on the perimeter. This is due to the fact that quarterbacks are more consistent with their target distribution when they throw to outside and slot wide receivers rather than other inside options like tight ends and backfield passers.

It's therefore fascinating to see a player like CeeDee lamb on this list for 2022. He plays the slot in 3 WR sets, and flanker in 2 of the sets. He's running more routes in the slot than a lot of the players on this chart. This is a great way to gain matchup advantages for your team. It also helps explain why Lamb is the top-rated receiver in our system.

Of course, he also plays the X position, and makes some big plays from the perimeter as well. Lamb isn't nearly as explosive as the players in this ranking but he's a very high-graded receiver and is a great match for the Cowboys' scheme.

Mecole Hardman, a different player who can put huge numbers on targets of all kinds, is a different example. He's among the best players in the league at taking throws from behind his shoulders. He's also a fantastic contested-catch player.

Jalen Hilton is another player who is slot specialist. He has lined up in this position on 85.7 percent of his defensive snaps thus far in the season. He's allowed the third-lowest target EPA and the fifth-best run stop EPA among cornerbacks who are aligned in the slot, which makes him a crucial player in the defense of his team. On the other hand, he's had trouble to prevent passes from the outside and has given an unfavorable EPA against these kinds of targets. This is because he's playing with safety and linebackers who aren't able to compete with Hilton's speed, size or route-running abilities.
